Fitness For Golf - Discover How to Stop the Pain When You Swing For Duffers

We all think of golf as a enjoyable pastime, a worthwhile activity and as a great way to stay fit. For the majority that is just how it is but for many a trip to the course results in pain. Pain in the form of sore muscles, aching joints and even a bad back is what many are dealing with during and after playing. These folks need to get fit for golf.

A great way to avoid the pain and enjoy the game is to take a few minutes to warm up properly by doing a few golf stretches before reaching the first tee. Preparation is the key to avoiding injury and maximizing your swing.

The golfer should take notice of the various muscle groups he employs in his swing so that he can work on strengthening them for better on course performance and overall good health.

The upper body would be a good place to start. You can easily find many golf specific workouts to help develop your body properly for golf. Strength training (resistance/weights) will be included along with stretches that work to improve your range of motion, flexibility and physical stamina. Always check with your doctor prior to beginning a new workout regime.

The core muscle group may be the most important to the golf swing. Keeping your core strong and well conditioned helps you with maintaining your posture at address, stay in balance throughout the swing and supporting the upper body during the golf swing. An additional benefit from a strong core is a lowered risk of back injuries, one of the most common seen among golfers. The truth is the core exercises are of the short and simple variety.

The lower body, as you know, is a significant source of power to the golf swing. Further we do so much standing and walking, even when using a cart, that we need a strong lower half to perform well. You thigh muscles provide for stability and help to produce the effortless power we so long for in our golf swing.

So it seems that most all of your body in involved in the golf swing. That is why it is such a good way to stay healthy and fit throughout your life. Proper golf fitness will mean more strength, a lower handicap and a more enjoyment of the game.
